PROYECTO BIENESTAR, translated is PROJECT WELL-BEING, also just PB.

One can cure the problems of the world over a good cup of coffee....That is how Proyecto Bienestar got started.  Reverend Donna Majetic and Susie Cook, Spanish language professor, got accustomed to meeting nearly weekly for a number of years for a hot skinny latte and a caramel machiato.  They began to ponder the world's pressing problems, one of which was illegal immigration.

Both women believed then and still believe now that most people who come to the U.S. illegally would rather stay in their own country if they could find real employment.  Susie, former owner of Centro de Estudios Americanos University in Saltillo, Mexico, has had a lot of experience working with Mexican women and both ladies decided they wanted to focus on the plight of women in the United States and Mexico, beginning primarily in Mexico.  But the purpose of Proyecto Bienestar is to "pay it forward" by one woman helping another.  The idea is to spread the wealth  through education, networking and collaboration.

The organization has volunteers in both countries that monitor and work with the recipients of donations in order to follow their progress and help them help another woman.

By helping women, the harmony of the home will be changed.  If a woman is married, the extra monthly income will help the family immensely.  If she is single, it will provide the first step out of poverty.
